After the stream-only album Live Outta Basement (2021), which featured twelve tracks recorded between 2017 and 2020, The Delayed are now presenting their official debut. On it, the quartet from Rosenheim confidently moves between laid-back rock tunes like the opener Spirit Of The Universe, sprawling jam instrumentals (Man Of A Thousand Goodbyes), bluesy psych (Demon's Bargain with strong vocal melodies), heavy grooves (Don't Save A Tear), and fuzzed-out guitar psych (Behind The Curtain). In their more relaxed moments, they evoke memories of The Doors; in trippier tracks, you might catch glimpses of All Them Witches or King Buffalo.
Guitarists Fabian Pauls and Sebastian Bauer, who also share vocal duties, frequently join forces for double-lead guitar passages. The guitar work overall is highly versatile, unafraid of extended solos. Sure, there's plenty of punch, fuzz, grit, and power — but also elegant melodies and a certain likable smoothness. Quite impressive for a debut.
