HISTORY

The Early Years

The Delayed came into being in their original lineup in 2016, emerging from a garage in Bavaria (Germany). At the time, the band had neither a bassist nor vocals: just Fabian Pauls and Sebastian Bauer on guitars, as well as Erdinc Poschenrieder (✝2024) on drums.

After a handful of local shows in Rosenheim, Munich and the surrounding areas, the band went through several phases of development and lineup changes over the following years—though the core of Fabian Pauls and Sebastian Bauer remained constant.

The first recordings and demo tapes were self-produced in their garage, followed by a few demo releases featuring jam sessions and early song drafts, which increasingly began to include vocals by Fabian Pauls and Sebastian Bauer.

The Basement & Bowling Alley Era

After a few years without a constant rhythm section, Martin Hackenberg (Drums) and Philipp Kapella (Bass) joined the band. This productive timespan resulted in the creation of a first digital release: "Live Outta Basement - The Live Tapes 2017-2020", which was a compilation of different live tracks that have been recorded throughout the years and was released on streaming platforms in 2021.

During this phase, The Delayed also managed to play their way to more and bigger stages and meet with and play several gigs with scene heavyweights like Pentagram, Nebula, Sacri Monti, 1000Mods, Wucan, Monkey3, Radio Moscow, Siena Root, Naxatras and more.

The work with Hackenberg and Kapella peaked in 2024 with the production and recording of the debut studioalbum "The Delayed", which was released in June 2025 and has received praise from different scene outlets like the Doomed & Stoned Show Podcast or German rock magazine Eclipsed, which rated it as a 8/10 and called it "Impressive for a debut", and has promptly been ranked 32th on the June 2025 Doom Charts.

New Horizons

In 2025 Hackenberg and Kapella left the band and the band restructured to set out to new horizons. Simon Matzer joined on bass and Sebastian Graf supported on the drums. In this era the band continued playing different venues and festivals in Germany and Austria and played gigs with Brant Bjork, DeWolff, Wucan and others.

At the current time, work on new material is resumed.
